Bowie High School PTSO

Partnering Together Supporting Our Students

With nearly seven million members, PTA is the largest volunteer parent organization in the United States.  Since its founding in 1897, PTA has prided itself on being a powerful voice for children, a relevant resource for parents, and a strong advocate for public education.

The Mission of the PTA is threefold:

  1. To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before government bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
  2. To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
  3. To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

Membership in the Bowie High School PTSO is open to anyone who is concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

When & How Do I Join the PTSO?

PTSO membership drives take place in the fall, but you can join any time of the year.

You may join online, by completing the online PTSO membership form.

Why should our family join the PTSO?

The Bowie High School PTSO survives solely on membership dues and fundraisers, we do not receive any school or government funding. Without you, there is no us. Please join to keep your PTSO and Bowie High School strong.

How will my membership help my child?

Your child will benefit from the programs the PTSO supports which are not funded by state and district budgets.

What are my responsibilities after I join?

Membership in the PTSO does not require any particular action on your part. For example, you don’t have to attend meetings or provide volunteer assistance for PTSO-sponsored activities – although we hope you’ll choose to do so!
